"More than anything else, Hitler proved that monsters do exist, but sadly, they aren̢۪t as obvious as how they are depicted in horror movies. They have very human faces, and often have lived all too human lives, sometimes marked by conflict and pain, but as was the case with Hitler̢۪s relationship with his mother and his sisters, not always devoid of love. Humanity may not always be able to predict who among us will become a monster or why, but after witnessing the atrocities committed by Adolf Hitler, perhaps the resolve to prevent such horrors in the future has been strengthened."

Awesome book. Of all the biographies I was wondering if I should choose this at all to read. Just by reading about great people who lived on this planet we don't become better. We become better by reading about wrong people as well. That's what tells us what humanity needs to be careful about. This is a concise, rightly sized, well written book about how an individual can cause an eternal damage to the mankind if not identified and eliminated by the right people on time. The guy has also shown to the world, just the love for a nation or race or discipline in personal life or commitment to a cause means nothing if one's basics are not in place.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good book but Tragic Topic, 4 December 2016

Good read. The only reason I have given it 4 stars is it is about a sad and tragic topic - Hitler and the Holocaust and man's inhumanity to man. I think the book is written well. Good simple language. What is the most shocking about World War II which I learnt from this book is the fact that at the end of the war over 60 million people or 3% of the world's population had died. What if those people had lived? Maybe the world would have been a better and different place. In fact, I am sure in my mind that the world would have been better. The saddest part in today's world is there are still Holocaust deniers.
