4.0 out of 5 stars Helen Keller - The Captain of her Soul, 2 November 2016

Note: This review concerns the Bantam Classic version of the book (ISBN: 9780553213874).

A true story of courage and an unconquerable will. Helen Keller's life is an example of what William Henley talked about in his poem 'Invictus' - despite being made blind and deaf due to an illness (probably meningitis/scarlet fever), she didn't give up on her life. Instead, she became the first deaf and blind woman ever to get a B.A. degree in US. The first part of this book, about 100+ pages, comprises her autobiography, and her zest of life comes poring through the pages of the book. The second half is her letters to her friends and family.

I would recommend this book especially to young women and those who feel they have lost life's battles.

The Bantam Classic version of this book is fairly affordable and handy, with OK page quality. You get what you pay for, I guess :)
