4.0 out of 5 stars definitely make you feel motivated, 3 October 2017

My fascination for Apple products led me to Steve Jobs. Irrespective of my love for Nike, I never did any information search of Phil Knight. Which is disappointing, because I may have related more to Phil Knight as a person than Steve Jobs. Through Nike’s products â€" shoes, applications, gears and endorsing celebrities, I imagined Phil as a hard-core extrovert marketer. He turned out as an introvert, a silent warrior.

The book ‘Shoe Dog’ is more like a conversation you have with your friend in a long weekend trip. How his life has shaped up from college, how people supported him, how challenges welcomed him with open arms (sometimes all at the same time) and how he survived after all. Nike began as an idea that Phil Knight presented in his post-grad days; importing shoes from Japan and selling it in America. His belief in the idea led to subsequent events, struggles and much-known success at the end.

In his memoir, he is not ashamed of how he remained impassive... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars It goes like this: A sharp entrepreneur gets a world-changing idea, 8 March 2017

Many books I̢۪ve read about entrepreneurs follow a common, and I believe misleading, storyline. It goes like this: A sharp entrepreneur gets a world-changing idea, develops a clear business strategy, recruits a crack team of partners, and together they rocket to fame and riches. Reading these accounts, I̢۪m always struck by how they make their achievements appear to be the inevitable result of some great prescience or unusual skill.

Shoe Dog, Phil Knight̢۪s memoir about creating Nike, is a refreshingly honest reminder of what the path to business success really looks like. It̢۪s a messy, perilous, and chaotic journey riddled with mistakes, endless struggles, and sacrifice. In fact, the only thing that seems inevitable in page after page of Knight̢۪s story is that his company will end in failure.

Must Read.

Brilliant is the word. It̢۪s not just a book but a man̢۪s whole life; of passion, of fears, of wars, of perseverance, of truth. I loved every word of the book. The memoir takes you through a journey of a 20 something who is willing to give his dreams a try to his dream becoming his life. The beauty of the book is it̢۪s straight from heart. Honest to the core. Phil, I just got myself added to your fan club. Every time I will pass a Nike store, I would recollect your life, journey and lessons. Thank you for this marvel.
