But for external power supply , connect the connector very cautiously . Double check the polarity & supply voltage . If your voltage regulator ( Inbuilt in the ckt. board ) is gone , total board need to replace . But protection diode is there if you use the attached Black colored connector in the board ( located at the same side of USB interface ) . But again cautious , the power rating of the protection diode is only few mili Ampere .
